THE ESCAPE Artist

Kansas City, Missouri, 2019

Billboards designed for the Mobank Artboards program administered by the Charlotte Street Foundation

Left panel:  From a first person perspective, hands extended in front of the viewer are bound by colored string. They are tied up, knotted and stuck. The person is at an impasse, caught, captured, and seemingly without a way out. Right panel: The situation has changed. In the space between the two panels, there has been a realization that led to an escape. The previously bound hands are now spread apart, gracefully pulling the colored string into a geometric pattern. The ties that bound the hands have been transformed into an idea, a design, art. A signed print of “The Escape Artist” is available here.
